REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the 2018 Volunteer Workshop!
This year's workshop will begin with a full day of training on Friday, August 3rd at the OUHSC College of Nursing on the Oklahoma City campus. Then on Saturday, August 4th there will be a full-scale exercise at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City. We hope you plan to attend both days!
The volunteer workshop will provide specific trainings to prepare OKMRC volunteers to be ready for service to our communities when we’re needed most. There are opportunities for EVERY volunteer such as Autism Spectrum Disorder Training, Access and Functional Needs Training, Opioid Overdose Response Training, Shelter Operations Training, STOP the BLEED, Compassion Fatigue and Skills for Psychological Recovery. There are also several animal volunteer training classes available throughout the day including Small and Large Animal First Aid and Animal Issues in Disasters.
Sign up now to reserve your spot for trainings on Friday and for the exercise on Saturday! NOTE THAT YOU MUST SIGN UP FOR THE TWO DAYS SEPARATELY!! There are four different tracks: two general tracks, a mental health track and an animal track. Please look over the document for classes in any track as it suits your needs and interests.
- Please use the links below to register to attend the Volunteer Workshop (Friday August 3) and Disaster Exercise (Saturday August 4) if at all possible! We will learn so much
- Our new PCART Disaster Response Unit (trailer) will be in use on Saturday along with those from other regions of the state!
- PLEASE Check your MRC training status when you log in! If your background check is not complete you will not be able to register!
- Friday: If you cannot attend on Friday you can still attend the Exercise on Saturday, but courses on Friday will cover
- Animal Incident Operations Review
- Overview of Animal Sheltering Guidelines
- Animal Issues in Disasters, and
- Animal First Aid for Small and Large Animals
- Saturday: Saturday is a full scale disaster exercise! When you register for Saturday you will choose either:
- Human shelter
- Small animal response
- Large animal response
If you are not yet credentialed through OKMRC but want to work with PCART for this Exercise or in the future:
- Please go to www.okmrc.org and register as a volunteer. Make sure you choose "small animal" and/or "large animal" in the skills section even if you do not already have the needed skills. This will put you on the Oklahoma SART (State Animal Response Team). Once you complete the required online training, OKMRC will run a background check and you will be a credentialed responder.
- Then fill out the Volunteer Form for the Payne County Animal Response Team:
- To become part of PCART go to https://www.paynecart.org/becoming-a-volunteer-or-a-resource.html and scroll down to the "2018 Volunteer Profile" button. Do not forget to click SUBMIT!
- After filling out this form and sending in evidence of OKMRC credentialing you will become part of the PCART team. Keep in mind that you can attend meetings while waiting for OKMRC credentials but cannot deploy for emergencies or active training with PCART until credentialing is complete.
- In addition to basic credentialing through the OKMRC Orientation you must also complete ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 before you are fully prepared to respond to an emergency. You may train with the team while completing those online courses.
- If you have large animal experience please ask us about the Oklahoma Large Animal First Responders, a SART group focused on large animal response. Many individuals are members of both teams.
For problems registering for OKMRC, the Workshop or Exercise, or Payne County Animal Response Team, or to be removed from this mailing list, please contact the PCART Volunteer Coordinator, Susan Grammer, at [email protected].
Thanks, and hope to see you in Oklahoma City August 3 and 4!!
