Frequently Asked Questions & Information
Q: What is a County Animal Response Team (CART)?
A:  Animal health care professionals, other interested parties, and animal lovers working together to help their community prepare for, mitigate (lessen the intensity of the impact), respond to, and recover from: emergencies, disasters, and subsequent animal health issues. Teams benefit from properly credentialed and trained volunteer Team Members, plus additional Resources available and ready should the need arise.
Q:  Who can be a Team member?
A:  Anyone over 18 can be a full team member. Special jobs and tasks can be developed for Junior Team members.
Q:  What is required to be a Team member?
A:  All team members must complete a series of 4 FREE online training courses at OKMRC.org, and a background check. Once you submit a Volunteer Form you will receive additional information directing you to the training site.  After MRC registration is complete you will receive a badge identifying you as a Certified MRC volunteer.
Q:  What is a Resource?
A:  A Resource is an individual, a business, or another organization that is a source of help or information for PCART. A Resource can be a reserve supply of equipment, supplies, personnel, and/or a location. Some examples of resources are:  the use of a boarding, grooming, and/or training facility, tractor, truck and livestock trailer, parcel of land, or livestock holding areas or services.  Some resources are donated, while others may be provided at a price, which is often reduced.
Q: What agency is PCART a part of?
A:  PCART is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization that is affiliated with the Payne County Office of Emergency Management.  The Director of the Office of Emergency Management is Jeff Kuhn.
