Tentative Role Assignments

The assignments you will see here are not written in stone and it is likely that you will play two roles over the course of the weekend.  Final assignments will depend on the scenario and these may change depending on needs.  Assignments for participants who deploy with OLAFR are not all listed below. That is being determined by the leadership team and you will learn those roles soon.
Tentative Organizational Structure - these charts are subject to change depending on needs during each incident. The PDF file contains all 3 charts.  The file titled "tentative_exercise_roles.pdf" is where the Planning Team placed individuals for at least one operational period based on training and on our estimation of what roles will be required.

Recommended Pre-Exercise Training

Although not required for participation, this section lists some training resources you might consider before arriving Friday.

1.
ASPCApro Webinar:  Fundamentals of Emergency Sheltering
This webinar is an excellent course and can be completed at the link below. You can also add this to your MRC profile.  The slides used in the webinar can be viewed at the link to the right if you do not have time to take the course.

2.
Review Animal Intake, Medical Care and Shelter Management, and Bite Report Forms From OK-SART
The forms below are those that you will see at the Exercise.  You will fill them out if assigned to Intake/Discharge or Shelter Teams so becoming familiar with them will help during the Exercise.  There is also a document that will be posted at each shelter regarding numbering systems for animals.
  • Being familiar with forms and numbering system ahead of time will help you if you are assigned to that area or have to receive at process intake forms, exam forms, daily maintenance or bite report forms at any point.
  • Forms were created by OK-SART for use by all teams in the state so that we can work together at incidents and are provided in triplicate packets so that copies can go with the animal, stay at intake, and go with the owner if available.
*Unique Animal Numbering System
This document is based on the numbering system in the PCART SOGS with some modifications to include OLAFR equine information. It will be available in notebooks with the forms, and also posted at each shelter location.

ICS Form Resources

On of the major Objectives of this Exercise is to practice the ability of animal responders to follow ICS procedures during a response. Although in most incidents that we respond to we will be various resources assigned to the "Animal Branch" and will be under the command of fire, law enforcement, emergency management or other agencies, for this Exercise all of the Incident Management Team will be made up of members of PCART, OLAFR and other animal response team members along with experienced IMT members who we will shadow.
  • Most of us will not actually be filling out the ICS forms that are so critical to accountability and to eventual reimbursement for expenses for our all volunteer teams, however it might be helpful to scroll through the documents if you have time.
  • Even if not responsible for keeping these records, understanding what kind of information must be passed up the chain-of-command will help.
  • If you are assigned as a Team Leader at some point, however, you will most likely be required to keep track of your team's activities on a 214, which is listed first.
