Amid the chaos of a disaster, even the most beloved companion animals can be overlooked and left behind, and wild animals cannot always save themselves from perilous situations. If you want to gain the skills to respond to emergencies and care for animals in the aftermath of disasters, attend Basic Animal Emergency Services training from American Humane, a national leader in disaster response and animal rescue. This course trains you to assist during a disaster in your community and is the first step to becoming an American Humane Rescue volunteer at the national level.
Topics of this intensive two-day training include:
- Role and responsibilities in animal rescue
- Activating a disaster response team
- Safety factors and concerns in the field and shelter
- Incident command system in animal operations
- Small & Large animal behavior and handling
NOTE: OKMRC volunteers need to sign up for this training in two places:
