This Exercise is the result of a partnership between PCART, OLAFR, and TAMU-VET. A disaster scenario specific to likely events in Payne County, Oklahoma, and specific animal related injects are being developed by TAMU-VET.

This exercise is targeted to animal response team members, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians, however first responders who are interested in participating can be accommodated. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Susan Grammer (susan.grammer@okstate.edu), for information, as we may be able to use your expertise in the role of Evaluator or Safety Officer.

Our performance will be evaluated by experienced emergency and veterinary emergency responders. All participants will be debriefed and provided with suggestions for future training.
Additional, more advanced topics, may be introduced through demonstrations by qualified personnel.

- Team or Agency activation/deployment/integration (OKMRC, OEM, or other procedures)
- Incident Command System (ICS)
- Scene Safety
- Small/Large Animal Behavior
- Small/Large Animal Sheltering
- Small/Large Animal Veterinary Emergency Care
Participants should expect to be required to model responses to hypothetical situations that include:
- Prioritizing life safety
- Stabilizing an incident
- Following ICS procedures, including chain-of-command
- Creating emergency shelters for large and small animals
- Animal intake, record keeping, reunification protocols
- Addressing injuries to animals
- Addressing various hazardous situations
- Addressing injuries to responders, including those caused by animals
- Requesting and obtaining needed resources
- Additional topics
Our performance will be evaluated by experienced emergency and veterinary emergency responders. All participants will be debriefed and provided with suggestions for future training.

COSTInstruction: Thanks to grants to PCART and OLAFR from the following organizations there will be no charge for tuition for this Exercise. We expect to provide all meals beginning Saturday morning, at no charge.
Lodging & Parking: Participants will be responsible for the cost of lodging for Friday and Saturday night and for parking/park entry at Lake Carl Blackwell Recreation Area (see below for information on lodging). Campsites, cabins, and reduced rates at a local hotel are described below. Schedule and venues Exercise activities will take place in three different locations in Stillwater between Friday evening March 2 and Sunday evening March 4. Please see schedule below for details.
In addition, there will be a meeting at 6 pm on Monday February 19 in Stillwater (at the Fire Protection Publications building on the OSU campus) that all PCART members who are participating as registrants should attend. If not able to attend you must still be registered and have provided all past training and understand that you may not be assigned to the role you desire. If your CART or other animal response team plans to participate as a working team rather than by integrating into PCART or OLAFR, you must contact the PCART Volunteer Coordinator at susan.grammer@okstate.edu to make arrangements. What to Bring
- Identification (Driver's License or equivalent
- MRC Badge (if MRC credentialed)
- County Emergency Management ID if credentialed through your OEM
- Copy of Professional License if DVM, RVT, EMT, other credentialed emergency responders
- Appropriate clothing, personal items, and equipment (see GoBag list)
- Long pants and close toes shoes (preferably boots) will be worn at all times
- Please prepare for this Exercise as if you were being deployed to an incident
Lodging
Park entry and parking at Lake Carl Blackwell is included for those camping. Participants staying in town will have to pay for park entry.

- Six campsites have been reserved at Lake Carl Blackwell Recreation Area. Two vehicles (RV or car) per campsite. Additional parking is available in the park for a fee.
- $65 for Friday evening through Sunday evening. Full parking pass for 2 vehicles included, and late checkout on Sunday is included.
- Please contact PCART Volunteer Coordinator for reservation at susan.grammer@okstate.edu.
- After reserved sites are booked, additional campsites may still be available.
- The reserved campsites are in Scissortail Lane which is an equine friendly campground with tie-ups but no stalls. Horses on-site for this Exercise will remain in this campground during the day and overnight if owners prefer. If sites are available on arrival at the Hunts Meadow campground and Equestrian Day Use area we can use those sites instead. Stalls, round pens, and a wash bay are available.
- Our instructors from TAMU-VET will be staying in cabins at Lake Carl Blackwell, however there are a few cabins remaining.
- Reserved cabins on your own by calling the Park Office at 405-624-3618. Information on rates and amenities can be found at lcb.okstate.edu/cabin-rental.
- Please note that these must be paid for at the time the reservation is made and refunds are only partial unless due to a family emergency. If the Exercise must be postponed due to TAMU-VET having to deploy to a hurricane or other emergency we "may" be able to request "rainchecks" but this is not guaranteed.
